CAPE-CON

Cape Comic Con is partnering with FCBD (Free Comic Book Day) and will be giving away free comics Saturday, May 1 from 9am-6pm while supplies last.

It’s going to be held at the Osage Community Center (1625 N. Kingshighway) on May 1st & 2nd.

Guests include DC Comics artist Ethan Van Sciver, Ghost Rider writer/creator Gary Friedrich, TV’s The Flash John Wesley Shipp.

Also attending are Jay Chuppe, Martheus Antone Wade, and me!

If you’re in the Memphis area stop by Comic Cellar or Comics and Collectibles.

And don’t forget that Dave’s issue of Brightest Day #1 hits stores next Wednesday- Cinco de Mayo!

Sketchcard Wednesday

Hey gang-

Dave and I have been working on some sketchcard sets so this week instead of Sketchbook Wednesday we’re going to do Sketchcard Wednesday.

First up are two cards Dave’s done from the Golden Age of Comics series by Breygent Marketing.

Dave’s “Captain Flag” sketchcard (inks and markers).

Dave’s “The Black Terror” will be an actual printed card in the set.

These will be available early May 2010.

I’m currently working on the Empire Strikes Back 3D set for Topps.

These are widescreen cards.

The top ones are my pencils, and the bottoms are the finished makers/inks.

These cards will be shipping in May and 1 artist sketch card is guaranteed per box!

Lin Live at 9 Monday morning

Hey gang- this Monday I’ll be on Channel 3′s Live at 9 morning show.

I’ll be on to help promote the upcoming MidSouthCon (Olive Branch, MS next month: March 12-14).

I was on the show a while back talking about Bushi Tales with Alex and Marybeth and had a great time.

Should have some paintings with me and may do a bit of sketching live. Wish me luck!

Jane (Bushi Tale’s #1 fan) showed me this drawing at the last MSCA dinner meeting and I asked if she would be nice enough to scan it and let me use it- she did!

Dave and I have both been a bit out of it this past week, but here’s one of my latest sketches.

Peter Criss

Nicki dressed as Peter Criss from KISS this Halloween so I thought I’d sketch him in her book while hanging out on the couch recuperating from bronchitis this past weekend.

Ever feel like there are not enough hours in the day… So, without further ado here’s this weeks Sketchbook Thursday. First up in an old sketch I did for a Scene magazine cover featuring the classic Universal Studios monsters.

Next is a rough layout sketch for an unused Phoenix Comicon program cover.

Last, this is a much more recent sketch of Venom for an unfinished commission that I need to finish.

Sketchbook Wednesday…

I’m back. Micah and I are still getting settled into the new place but the studio is setup and I’m getting back to business. This weeks Sketchbook Wednesday is 4 sketches I produced for a stalled comic project. These are all rough designs for a space station firefighter suit. Lots of thought process on the pages if you can read my hand written notes. It’s pretty obvious what these things are so enjoy. The next two Sketchbook Wednesdays will be Halloween themed. Don’t forget about Lin’s upcoming one man show, “Portraits of Villiany”, and my first pro DC Comics work the DCU Halloween Special- all of which are happening this month.
